Ask a Midwife: Do You Have Questions About Twin Pregnancy or Birth?

Are you expecting twins in your family, and do you have questions about twin pregnancy or birth? You now have the opportunity  to ask for advice or input from a midwife working in a hospital team designated to women pregnant with twins.

“We believe it will be interesting for expectant mothers and fathers to get a midwife’s take on some of their questions about twin pregnancy and birth,” says Kate Phillipa Clark, founder of about-twins.com.

Kate Phillipa Clark stresses that if a mother has a medical condition or is worried about her pregnancy, she must seek advice from a doctor or midwife who can do a physical exam.

10 years of experience as a midwife

The midwife, who’ll be answering questions, is Ditte Toft Heskjær. She’s been working as a midwife for 10 years. After a few years assisting first time moms delivering singletons, she is now working in a Danish hospital team designated to women pregnant with twins. This team consists of three midwives who follow the pregnant women throughout their twin pregnancies. They are present during the whole birth and delivery of the babies.

“This ensures a high level of expertise and professionalism. It’s also my experience that this set-up makes the pregnant woman and her partner feel more at ease about the pregnancy and up-coming birth,”  says Ditte Toft Heskjær.
